Kenneth M Shake, died Aug 17, 2023 just months short of 100 yrs old. Ken was born in Canyon City Colo. Feb 4, 1924. His family relocated to the mining community of Ray Arizona, where he graduated from High School. As a WWII veteran he served his country in the Southern Pacific after marrying his lifelong companion, Doris. They served in the Civil Aeronautics Administration and raised their family of five in four western states.
Ken was employed with the FAA for 40 + years, as an Air Traffic Controller, and Public Relations officer of the Northwest Region. Ken and Doris both, were members of the FAA Airways Pioneers. He was also a free-lance writer, photographer, volunteer Fireman, swim instructor, carpet layer, do it yourself home repair man, camping enthusiast, bird watcher, care-giver for those in need, lover of airplanes, a husband and father. Ken was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, brother and his wife Doris. He is survived by his sister Elaine, and sons, David, Steven, Larry, Dennis and only daughter Teri. Ken has 11 grand kids and 17 great-grandkids. “Grandpa” had a quick yogi bear smile and was a good role model for his children.
Remembered by his family, and friends, He has shown us all, how to be disciplined in all endeavors without losing the personal attitudes that make one a well-rounded successful individual.
Today, he has gone on to meet with
the love of his life….
