Jerome Anton Stern, 92 of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully October 3, 2026. He was born September 30, 1934 in Belgrade, Minnesota to Edward and Antoinette Stern. He was the youngest of 3 children. He will be remembered as a man of deep kindness, strong values, a great sense of humor, and a generous heart that touched many lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love and stories his family and friends will tell for many years.
He met the love of his life, Patricia Lynn Thomson at a friend’s wedding in Colorado and they were married 6 weeks later on January 26, 1957. They celebrated 63 years together until she passed in 2020. They were the proud parents of two sons, Jeff and Brian. Jerry earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota on June 1, 0021961 and worked as an accountant at Motorola and National Semiconductor. His work took the family to Phoenix, Arizona; Nogales, Mexico; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Silicon Valley/San Jose, California. Raised a farm boy, Jerry was not a stranger to hard and was always up for a challenge. He took many under his wing and showed them the ropes. He and Pat loved to travel. Their many adventures took them Mexico, Southeast Asia, Wales, Panama, and other cruise ports. After retirement, they traveled the US extensively in a motorhome. They eventually settled in Boise. He never lost his love for Minnesota. He built a cabin in Lowman, Idaho and found a new tribe, many of whom are Minnesotans. He loved the outdoors, playing Rolle Bolle, and getting around on his UTV. He will be especially missed in Lowman
Jerry was one of the best. A loving husband, involved father and grandfather, fun and loyal friend, and a true gentleman, Smart as a whip and quick with a joke, he had a distinct way of making people feel important and loved, even while he teased you. He treasured his time connecting with people and making new friends. He inspired meaningful conversation by telling great stories which made it fun to be around him. In his final years, he made with his home with his son Brian and Sally. He loved Sally’s cooking but had few specialties of his own. He made a mean Posole and great Italian gnocchi. He was always willing to share a glass of Bourbon or Brandy
A devout Catholic, he is now reunited with his beloved wife, he is probably still cracking jokes and getting a sneaky lil side eye roll from Pat. Heaven gained an awesome soul. We will see you later Dad.
In Jerry’s memory, come sit with him by the river and have a drink.
Jerry’s passing is proceeded by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Stern and he s survived by his sons, Jeff Stern (Tammy) Chino Valley, Arizona; Brian Stern (Sally) Boise, Idaho; 5 grandchildren: Chris, Derek (Kimberly), Jeremy, Kelli, and Garrett and 3 great grandchildren: Andrew and Aviana and one on the way, Marcus Maximus
The Stern family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sally and Jasmine's unwavering support and love provided in his final years.
