Janette enjoyed growing up in Gem County and especially all the time she spent on the cattle drives with family and friends. Janette attended Emmett Elementary, Jr. High, and High Schools and went on to receive her Elementary Ed Bachelor's Degree from Boise State University. She began her career in education in 1976 as an Elementary and Special Education Teacher at Collister School in Boise, Idaho. She taught at various other schools throughout the Treasure and Gem Valley, ending her teaching career at Prairie High School in Cottonwood, Idaho, in 1991. She then worked for the State of Idaho as a Child Development Specialist for children ages 0-5, until her retirement in December 2000. Janette loved being a teacher and helping children of all ages.
Janette was a member of the Lutheran Church in Emmett, Idaho, where she enjoyed teaching bible studies for several years. Janette also found joy in spending her time at the local bowling alley, football games, baseball, and softball fields. She loved cheering on all of her kiddos, including the ones that adopted her as "Mom". She made many special trips from Grangeville to the Boise area just to watch her "Josie Girl" play softball. Janette also enjoyed knitting, reading, watching crime shows, bowling, farm/ranch life, traveling, and spending time with family, especially at the Ocean.
Janette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Carol Pingel, her daughter and son-in-law, Shelli and Neal Bromley, and her Grandchildren: Logan Pingel, Kai Pingel, Shane Sherwin, Cody Sherwin, and her "Josie Girl," Josie (Bromley) and Dalton Shrum, and two Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon (Don) Wheeler and Robin Bemis, along with many cousins and friends that she loved dearly.
Janette was preceded in death by her father, Glen Gosse, her mother, Marie (Rose) Raney, her father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Ila Driscoll, Jack Pingel, Bill Pingel, her sister-in-law, Connie Pingel, Thomas M. Wren, and many other family and friends that she held close to her heart, including her beloved puppy, Mia.
The family is truly grateful and appreciative to her friends and family that were able to visit with her over the last couple of months. Thank you so much, Connie Harvey and Judy Frisbee for all the love and support you have shown and given, over the last year especially. We have been blessed with the amount of love and support for those around us, thank you.
Janette will be remembered for her passion to teach, her deep love of her family, and her kind and gentle nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
