Eugene Joseph Peters

Eugene (Gene) Joseph Peters of Meridian, Idaho passed away on March 9, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on June 22, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he grew up and later lived in California for fifty years before moving to Idaho.

He graduated from American College of Law in Orange County, California, with the degree of Juris Doctor in June, 1976. However, he worked most of his life as a house painter in his own business because he valued the freedom and independence of being his own boss.

He was actively involved in various ministries at church throughout his life, and took his Catholic faith seriously, sharing it with anyone and everyone he felt moved to engage in conversation.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Peters; his parents Regina and Lionel Peters; and his siblings Jean, Arthur, Fredrick, Roman, Irene (Gene’s twin), Jerome and Valeria.

He is survived by children Dianne (Samuel) Martinez, and Beth Peters; and granddaughter Elizabeth Martinez.

Gene is remembered by everyone as being generous, energetic, fun, joking, and witty. His humor will be missed. He was also known as a people-lover, stopping and talking to everyone he saw.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Assisted Living Memory Care on N. Lakes Place in Meridian, Idaho for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. They truly cared for him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd., Meridian, Idaho, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The rosary will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 12:00 noon, and then lunch.

Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 Santiago Canyon Road, Orange, California, on Friday, May, 9, 2025.
