Dixie Coreen Calhoon

Dixie Coreen Calhoon of Weiser Idaho passed away on Wednesday, February 5th at the age of 78. She was born on April 9th, 1946 in Tillamook Oregon where she grew up with her sister Jan, mother Laverne and father Ralph.

She graduated from Tillamook High School in 1963. She worked as a beautician, secretary, restaurant cook, loving mother and housewife. She was actively involved in enjoying time with her family, arts and crafts, painting, camping and fishing. She is preceded in death by her husband Timothy, son Kevin, father Ralph, mother Laverne, and sister Jan.

She is survived by her daughter Tammie and son Lyle. Dixie was a fun-loving lady who truly enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether it be going into the mountains to gather wild mushrooms, pick wild fruit from old homesteads to can for winter, fish along a stream for fresh trout or sit and play or paint with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Dixie was always involved and surrounded by family and friends who just enjoyed her company. Even during her final days in the hospital, Dixie was trading tea with her nurses who often stopped by ICU after her initial surgery to just check up on her as she was one to remember. The family would like to thank St Alphonsus in Boise and her nurses for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days. Her family will place her ashes with her husband’s ashes at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boise per her wishes later this summer.
