
Born on October 8, 1951, in Oakland, California, to Clem and Evelyn Pereira, Skip grew up in Hayward, California, and spent a brief time in New Orleans before settling in Dublin, where he attended high school. His love of sports and education led him to Chabot College, and he later earned a baseball scholarship to Eastern Oregon University. There, he pursued his passion for teaching and received a master’s degree in education.
Skip married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda, in 1976, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, respect, and shared dreams.
After graduation, Skip accepted a position at Cove High School in Oregon, where he made a lasting impact as a History and Health teacher, Head Football Coach, and later as the Basketball Coach. He dedicated 24 years to the school and community, mentoring countless students and athletes with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering commitment.
Skip was a devoted father & grandfather to his two daughters, Cassie and Carrie, and grandchildren Avery and McCoy who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his brothers David and Steve, and his sister Leigh Ann.
His other passion and undoubtedly biggest disappointment was HIS Raiders, a testament to his level of dedication. He was a devout Raiders fan “ just win, Baby” would be shouted with such optimism. He believed that commitment to excellence should be a life motto. Being a Raider fan isn’t just about wins. It’s about attitude.
Known for his storytelling, love of sports, and big-hearted personality, Skip touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and integrity.
