

Timothy “Tim” Weldon passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Tim is survived by his wife, (Kathleen “Snip” Weldon) of 48 years, son, (Chip Pensa-wife Leslie), grandsons (Nicholas Pensa-Wife Leslie and Matthew Pensa-wife Mary Adelyn), granddaughter (Mia Pensa), great-grandsons (Jordan and Henry) and great-granddaughter (Juliette).
Tim was born in New York City to parents Joseph Weldon and Alleen (Blanke) Weldon. Tim was the youngest of three children, with oldest Brother Michael and middle sister Alene Rice. Tim moved to Sarasota at age 11 and graduated from Sarasota High School (Class of 1958). Where he played tennis and basketball. Subsequently, he enrolled in at Yale University where he rowed on the freshman crew. Tim took a sabbatical from college and enlisted in the U. S. Army’s 231st Transportation Corps, honorably serving two years active duty and two years in the reserves. Tim returned to Yale University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1965.
Following college, Tim worked for Morgan Yacht and pursued his lifelong passion of racing sailboats and playing volleyball. In 1977, Tim Married the love of his life, Snip. Tim continued to travel the country playing competitive volleyball into his 80s, winning numerous national championships, senior Olympics and World Games. Tim played a pivotal role in establishing volleyball in the state of Florida, serving as the volleyball commissioner for many years. He helped established the women’s volleyball program at St. Pete College and coached the team. Tim was elected to the Florida Volleyball Hall-of-Fame.
Tim retired from the city of St. Petersburg, FL in 2002, after a 27- year career. In retirement, Tim and Snip enjoyed riding their Paso Fino Horrses, playing with their Italian Greyhound dogs and spending time with the grandchildren. He loved intellectual pursuits and spent much of his time playing bridge, reading ad researching/ tracking his investments.
Tim was aa gentle, loving and generous man. We will miss him. We love you, Papa!
