Lawrence Frank Bates

Lawrence grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and spent most of his life there.

He was a devoted Christian, husband, daddy and a "Danke".

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Bates and Edith G. Ford, his stepfather, Earl Ford and by his son in law, Ron Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Bates; daughters, Kathy (Jay) Noah and Elizabeth Blair. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Kaitlin (Joshua) Tillman, Shelby ( Colby) Johnson, Desyiny Blair, Allyn Blair, Jessica (Victor) Rivers, Asdhton (Jimmy) Smith and Bethany (Charles) Alexander; 17 great grandchildren and an abundance of friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday March 1, 2026 at Bethel Baptist Church, 8332 Moody Pkwy, Moody, AL 35120. Visitation will be 1:30 pm until 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary at 2:00pm.
