

Lt Col (Ret) Joseph Vincent Arnold passed away at home in Athens, AL on Wednesday August 27, 2025. Joe was born in Lebanon, PA on April 13, 1936, the third of twelve children born to Cyril & Mary Arnold.
He graduated from South Lebanon High School in 1952 and went on to graduate from Maryknoll College with a degree in Philosophy. He later attended Medical College of Georgia earning a Master of Nursing Degree. Joe then had a combined 26 years of service in the Army as an RN. During his service he was a Veteran of The Vietnam Conflict, earning a Bronze Star and Vietnam Gallantry Cross for his actions in combat.
He retired in 1985 as a Lt Colonel and returned to his hometown of Lebanon, PA with his family.
Later Joe moved to Florida, where he became an avid high school wrestling coach and student athlete mentor at Port Charlotte High School for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Mary Arnold and brothers Cy, Jack, and Richard as well as brother-in-law John Allwein, and sister-in-law Patricia Arnold.
Joe is survived by his wife Elsie of Lebanon, PA, son Matthew (Shannon) of Athens, AL and daughter Rebecca of Lebanon, PA.
Additionally, he is survived by 8 siblings: Mary Allwein, Margie (Abe) Brandt, Ed Arnold, Millie (Dave) Rogers, Mike (Sue) Arnold, Phil (Sandy) Arnold, Aggie (Dave) Norman, and Celie (Kevin) Myers as well as sisters-in-law Betsy & Joanne Arnold. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren: Tristan Wildharber, Samantha Arnold, Emma Arnold, Harmonie Wildharber, and Abbigail Arnold.
Joe will be interred on Thursday September 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors.
