Joanna Buccheri, age 83, passed away in Madison, Alabama on January 19, 2026 after a brief and sudden illness. She was born on February 23, 1942 in New Britain, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Edward and Jean Sutula
Anyone who knew her knew of her sparkling personality, style, sense of humor, loving spirit and her beauty - inside and out. She was a one-of-kind and was lovingly known as her Czuprinski family’s “Polish Princess”! She will be missed by her large family with whom she stayed very close and the many friends that she made over the years.
Joanna worked at Fortis College (formally Medix School) from 1990 to 2020 as a High School and Inside Admissions Representative. She loved working with students teaching them the benefits of investing in higher education and made lifelong friends with many of her co-workers, including her treasured friend Susan D’Anna. She brought brightness and cheer to the whole organization.
She is survived by her former husband, Frank Buccheri (Roseanne), who remained her close friend throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her precious son, Dustin Buccheri, and is survived by her daughter-in-law, Meghan Buccheri and grandsons Nicholas Dawalt (Emily), Jacob Dawalt (Anali), and Carter Buccheri and granddaughter Kayla Irvin (Drew).
She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Alison Scott, and son-in-law, Matt Scott, her grandchildren Mishalah Pendergrass (Shalom), Qesheth Stearn (Zebulun), David Scott and Meleah Scott and three great grandchildren. Alison and her family cared in the most loving way for Joanna during her later years, and their time together brought her so much joy.
Joanna came from a large family and had very close ties to her many cousins. She loved traveling to visit them and reveled in hosting when they visited her. She leaves behind cousins Elaine McDonald (Bryan), Gary Gable, Barbara Hitchiner (George), Gordon Gable, Fred Dorsey (Sherry), Paul Suprin, Mark Suprin (Jill), Lenore Carlone (Mike), Gail, Suprin-Peplau (Steven), Todd Czuprinski, Carrie Doyle (Mike) and Lynn Finck (Gary). Our cousin gatherings will never be the same, but we will fondly remember and celebrate her.
There is no service planned at this time, and she will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain, Connecticut beside her parents.
Rest in peace, sweet Joji, you will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Heaven is an even happier place now.
