William Otis Gibson

William “Bill” Otis Gibson of San Mateo, CA passed away on Monday October 13, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in San Francisco, raised in Redwood City, he attended Chico State University and received Associate of Arts & Science degrees from the College of San Mateo. He was a dedicated Mechanical Engineer at Raychem Corporation and Tyco Thermal Controls for 30 years. He was a loving husband to Deborah Gibson, a proud father to daughter Christina, son Bobby and daugher-in-law Leslie. He was also a loving Grandfather to his grandsons Maxwell and Theodore. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Otis Gibson and Eva Gibson.

Known as “Mr. Fix It” to his wife and children, Bill had the ability to fix anything in front of him. If there was a cabinet to refinish, a leaky faucet or broken toy, he was always there to fix things with love and a little elbow grease. He loved spending time with his family, getting lost in conversations, and going on family vacations.

After he retired in 2011, he enjoyed attending live music shows with his wife. Bill supported his wife’s adventures in antique dealing by being the “secret weapon” behind the scenes. There wasn’t an item she could find that he couldn’t bring back to life for her to sell. Bill will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
