Warren Eugene Barnes lll, 73, left this space on Thursday, October 8th, 2026, at UCSF Medical Center. Warren was born on March 28, 1953 to Delfina Barnes (Licea) and Warren Eugene Barnes ll in Port Chester, New York. In 1976 Warren and friends headed out on a retrofitted bus to California where he met his wife, Trich, in Union Square, San Francisco. Prior to marrying they lived in Las Vegas where Warren worked as a cab driver and slot machine repair person. Upon return to NY he married in 1981 and worked as a manager/salesperson and repairer of business machines for 21 years. Following diagnosis with Progressive M.S. he commuted 4 hours per day roundtrip to work until the company relocated out-of-state.
Warren contributed to his community through coaching little league sport and serving as the first president of the Co-operative in which he resided. He enjoyed family reunions, holiday get-togethers, and hanging with friends with whom he jammed on his harmonica. He loved dogs, birds, and other animals whose presence brought him much delight! Leisure activities included watching and supporting the 49’ers; creating artistic designs on clothing for personal use and intricate dream catchers; cycling alongside his wife as she jogged; and traveling through Europe via wheelchair and public transport. We would like to extend our appreciation and acknowledgement of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living for the care and support they provided Warren during his last two years.
Warren is survived by his brother Gary Edward Barnes and wife Janice Lynn Langworth Barnes and their daughters Samantha McGovern, Sarah Couto, and Rebecca LaBella; his great-nieces Amelia, Eleanor, and Lucy and great-nephews Rafael and Paul. His sister-in-law Julie Marlene Anderson and her husband Michael Anderson and nieces Bailey Sablock, Aiden Taylor, and nephew Christian Sablock; his brother-in-law Marty Joseph Brunk; and Warren’s wife, Patty (Trich) Brunk. Warren is pre-deceased by his son Aaron Brunk-Barnes, his mother Delfina Licea Barnes, and father Warren Barnes ll. Legacy may be viewed at the Neptune Society website. Memorial Service will be held on November 8th, 2026 with a scattering of ashes at sea. Neptune Society yacht will launch from Pier 39 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon at 2:30 on land.
