Born in Panama in 1937, a complete badass, she came to the US at 17 and graduated from Galileo High School with their highest honor as valedictorian.
She married Robert Dominguez, also, kind of a big deal (SF Bay Area Jazz Legend) and they had 4 amazing daughters -Adele, Delia, Christina and of course, the most beautiful, Rachael.
Delia graduated from San Francisco State with a BS and then, an MS, all while working as an RN and raising those previously mentioned fantastic daughters.
Delia and Robert decided their badassery was way too much to contain in one household and they divorced.
Delia then went on to have a successful career as a nursing instructor with City College of San Francisco and a nursing career as a visiting nurse, school nurse and at hospitals in the SF Bay Area. She eventually retired as a Psych nurse at San Francisco General hospital.
Delia liked to travel, spend time with her family and live to the fullest. She enjoyed film festivals and relaxing on any beach with a cocktail in her hand.
Crab cakes, a Bombay sapphire martini with three olives, liver and onions, independent movies and electric blankets are just a few things that made her day.
Delia was always generous with her time, her money and her home. She enjoyed hosting people in her home as long as they didn’t get on her nerves and then they “had to go”.
A proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother , she was very proud of the phenomenal children that entertained her, nurtured her and cared for her as her f****d up disease progressed. She is forever grateful to any and all who showed her kindness with food, visits, weed and free Netflix passwords.
Delia lived her life on her own terms and she respected people who did the same.
She will be remembered for her gorgeous smile, red finger nails, sarcastic wit and her delicious potato cones.
Cheers Mama, long may you reign.
Services will be held Saturday, December 1st at 11:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
