The only event Chad liked more than a car race was a 49er game. He was a 55-year season ticket holder, avid race fan and spent many happy hours working on his own car and boat engines with family and friends. Claims and management for AAA was the perfect 35-year career for Chad who then went on to help close friends by running SCBA Safety. Everyone he met was shocked to learn he was 82 years of age and still going strong. Chad was born in San Francisco during WWII while his father, a P-47 pilot, served his country. Later his father and mother raised their family in Westlake. He ran track and field, was a hurdle jumper, an avid water skier and with his quick wit and fabulous sense of humor was the master of ceremonies at every event he attended. After a two-week illness he joined family and friends in heaven. Chad leaves behind his cherished daughter Jennifer Wherry, her husband Steve and his treasured grandchildren Mackenzie and Dylan. He leaves his loving stepsons Jim and Kevin Moots and their wonderful wives Ann [predeceased] and Rebecca and his adored grandchildren Steven, Amanda and Dominic along with Chad’s loving sister Dee Highbaugh, Chuck [predeceased]. His younger brother Flip preceded him. Chad is predeceased by his soul mate Carol Moots Reade. Chad will best be remembered for his fabulous sense of humor, his ability to make friends and the joy he brought to everyone he touched. He so loved to laugh and a really funny story brought tears to his eyes. Chad, our gentleman, will be so greatly missed.
