After fighting multiple medical issues for years, Bill passed away at home with his wife by his side, holding his hand. He knew what was happening, wanted them to be at home together during his final days. Hospice was a great help and continues to be today.
Born in Seattle to Barbara and RC Stone, Bill grew up on Mercer Island, graduating high school in 1964 and the University of Washington with a degree in Communications in 1968. This was followed by 4 years of active service in the US Navy.
Bill enjoyed a successful career as a partner at Stone, Drew, Ashe & Jones for over 40 years, after joining his father at the business in June 1989. Retiring to Anacortes, in 2015, Bill was always an inspiration with his calm demeanor and cheerful outlook. He spent several years serving the Anacortes Yacht Club, in Board positions including that of the Commodore during 2019 and as an ACMCA Board member. During and before retirement, he loved nothing more than getting out on the water in his Nordic Tug, July, and cruising the San Juan Islands and Canadian waters.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, SuAnn, his twin brothers Rick and Tim, his son Jarod, and his amazing grandchildren, Alice and Charlie Stone.
He wanted to be cremated, have NO memorial, and no flowers. But, rather he wished to be remembered through donations, in his name, to his FAVORITE 501C3, The Princess Louisa Society. P.O. Box 3562. Bellevue, WA 98004., which maintains and supports his favorite location in the world, Princess Louisa Inlet in British Columbia, Canada. This is also where he asked for his ashes sprinkled.
