

Maurice Allen Erickson (Maury) of Lake McMurray passed away on July 10, 2024 at the age of 91. He was born on February 1, 1933 to Vilas and Sophie Erickson and moved to Fir Island when he was 6 weeks old. He resided in Skagit County most of his life.
He served in the Air Force in Korea from 1953 to 1957 and married shortly after an honorable discharge and began a family with first wife Carol Sweet and three boys soon to follow in the next 5 years.
After a short while as a truck driver, he went on to a career with the Seattle Police Dept working up to a Detective in the Homicide and Robbery Dept. earning mentions in crime writer Ann Rule's books and magazine articles. He retired in 1980, but remained in regular contact during department gatherings over the years.After retirement, tending the small farm, family, community involvement and world travel kept him busier than most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings; Margaret, Winston, Donald and Marie, oldest Son Phillip and first Grandchild Steven.
He was survived by his wife of 49 years Robin, Sons Paul and Mark, Stepsons Rob and Jay, Grandchildren Danielle, Pete and Joel, Step Grandchildren Troy, Emma and Esther, Great Grandchildren Austin, Kevin, Brady, Ari, Layna and Caden who all brought so much joy growing up and even more during their visits to the old farm.
Nieces, nephews, cousins and their families across the states were kept in frequent contact and meant so much to him. The countless friends over the years were like extended family and all so dear.
Services will be at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood on August 10th, 1:00 PM.
The Columbarium Service is at Fir Conway Lutheran Cemetery, 19084 Milltown Rd Mt Vernon, at 10:00 on August 24th. Immediately following is a celebration of life with close friends and relatives at his last residence.
