Douglas James Patchett of Stanwood, WA, passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 49. He was born March 29, 1975, in Long Beach CA, the 2nd child to James and Linda Patchett. Douglas worked in sales and management at Kendall Subaru of Marysville, WA.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Patchett. He is survived by his four sons, Payne, Hunter, Gauge and Gabriel; his mother, Linda Patchett; his sister, Teddi Patchett; 2 nieces, Jade & Autumn; and 1 nephew, Spencer.
Doug was a devoted father, caring for his children and always working to provide for his family. His endless care for others and his exuberant charisma has left an indelible mark on the world for the better. Doug had the ability to bring any situation down to reality, and knew how and when to pick his battles. His self-control was awe-inspiring. He knew how to inspire a laugh, to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. He was a man of many talents, a stranger to conventionality, and a friend to strangers. His buoyant personality and constant smile were forever an indicator that whatever was happening, things were going to be just fine.
Doug was a man who overcame adversity early in life, only to emerge on the other side as an honorable, compassionate, and loving man. His primary joy in life was being a father. As a father he would try to teach his children through experience rather than lecture. He made sure they were always cared for and acted as their personal comedian to make their days brighter. He guided his children into different activities and celebrated their goals and achievements to the very end.
Doug was the embodiment of change and has inspired many to embrace the same. He was a great person, an admirable roll model, the perfect friend to laugh with and the best father to have growing up.
Rest easy, Dad. (Written by Payne Patchett)
The family would like to thank Christina Trainor for the love, care, patience, and compassion she showed Douglas in the last years of his life. He loved you.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service for Douglas on Saturday, May 4 @ 1pm; Rock of Hope Baptist Church, 7812 224th Street SW, Edmonds, WA 98026. (425)776-2228.
