Willietta Dorothy Phillips

Age: 86

Willie was born near the farm where she grew up with her 7 siblings in Roberts Cove, LA. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School, got a degree in microbiology from USL where she met her husband Urbahn Phillips. She worked at Lourdes hospital in Lafayette as a blood tech until relocating to Indiana where she had her son. They moved to New Orleans in 1965 and gave birth to a daughter 4 years later. In 1974 the family moved to San Antonio, TX where she raised her children. She was a founding member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church. Once the kids were older she worked at the J.C Penney credit processing center where she retired.

Willie was introverted, funny, a great friend to many, a loving Mom and grandma, smart, and at the end, resilient. She finished her life with a terrible disease called progressive supranuclear palsy. (PSP for short)

She fought against it for at least 13 years, but it finally became too much for her body to handle. All through this illness she did not lose her wit or silly sense of humor and rarely complained, though she had lost so much from it.

Surviving family: Brother Bud Zaunbrecher, son John Phillips and spouse Valerie, daughter Kelly Adame and spouse Joe, grandchildren Brandon Adame and spouse Katharine, Drake Phillips, Diego Adame, Sydney Baggett and spouse Blake, Kendra Adame, Logan Adame, great grandchildren Riley Baggett, Aubrey Adame, Harper Baggett, and Silas Adame, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Urbahn Phillips.

Services: There will be 2 services, one for our new friends in Llano, TX at Uplift Church, 301 E. TX 71, Llano, TX 78643 on March 21 at 2:00 and another in San Antonio, TX at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, 14714 Edgemont, San Antonio, TX 78247 on March 31 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266
