Ted C Steinberg passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, TX on April 16, 2025. Ted was born on August 16, 1941 to Teddy and Frances Steinberg. He grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Ted Completed his BS in Electrical Engineering and his MS in Engineering Administration from SMU. He married Betty Sue Mayo in April of 1962. Together they raised two wonderful daughters, Dr. Kimberly (Ranaella) Steinberg of Kauai, HI and Kelly Steinberg-Johnston of Austin, TX; enjoyed the heck out of their beautiful granddaughter, Trinity Johnston. Ted worked mainly with semiconductor companies (TI, RCA, Motorola, Fairchild Test Systems, AOT, Megatest and Teradyne); and he, Betty, and Ranaella were also able to live a year and a half in Norway working for Continental Electronics. His work gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world.
Ted was an active member of the communities where he lived. He started the Anderson Mill Barracudas swim team in Austin, was active in his church, served on three non-profit boards, started pickleball on the North Shore of Kauai and became their ambassador. He was a member of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) on Kauai where he received his radio ham license so he could help with communications in an emergency.
Ted was an extraordinary man and will be missed and remembered by many. His number one goal was to make sure his family was happy, healthy, supported, protected, and cared for. He was the definition of a Leo and made his family proud. Ted is survived by wife Betty, daughters Kimberly (Ranaella) and Kelly, granddaughter Trinity, son-in-law Mark Johnston, brother Dr. Don Steinberg and family of Argyle, TX, and sister-in-law Sue Mayo and family of Georgia. A celebration of life will be held in Kauai.
In lieu of flowers, Ted would have loved for you to donate to the KSPCA. https://www.kauaispca.org/
