
The daughter of Barbara and Jerry Sage, Stephanie was born November 8, 1951, into an Army family in Highland Falls, New York. She grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas, and Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1969.
Stephanie accepted the calling to serve her country by enlisting into the Air Force in 1974, completing basic and advanced training in Texas before being stationed at Loring Air Force Base, Maine. She attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before leaving the service in 1978, when she settled in Austin.
Stephanie received her Bachelor’s of Arts in English at the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 before completing Nursing school. She worked as an ICU nurse at St. David’s Hospital and later as an in-home nurse for several years before retiring due to health issues of her own.
Stephanie enjoyed a lifelong love of literature, music, and movies. She bled burnt orange for Longhorn baseball, and she supported causes such as local animal shelters and the Humane Society. She was humble about her singing voice but sang in the choir at St. Louis Catholic Church.
Stephanie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Regina Sage of Sellersville, Pennsylvania, her sister and brother-in-law Patti and William “Buck” Kistler of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and her son John Faller of Fort Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Terence Sage, and her sister Barbara Sage.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78757.
