With Grace under her wings, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend returns to her Heavenly Home. Sharon Murphy Stromberg of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with dementia.
Sharon was born July 16, 1940, in Jacksonville, Texas, to John Thurmond and Oneta Murphy. She relished being the oldest of three and is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tim Murphy and Stephen Murphy, whom she adored. Sharon attended Stephens Women’s College, Texas Woman’s University, and finally, Texas Tech University, where she met her husband, Robert Stromberg, of Hutto, Texas. Robert and Sharon were one month shy of their 59th wedding anniversary upon her passing.
Sharon always said she was born into the fashion industry and continued that passion as a millinery designer, a women’s fashion wholesaler, and a boutique owner. She was best known for her sewing and cooking skills which she gladly shared with everyone. She loved sharing her insights, especially if they were about clothing or hair!
Fondly known as Mimi by her six grandchildren, she was a colorful character who adored her family and time with her friends. She always was “cooking up” a gathering and enjoyed irreverent humor. She was fun-loving and a true friend to many, always lending an ear and running to the phone when it rang. Thankfully, technology advanced allowing the phone to follow her so she could quickly call a friend to say, “You won’t believe where we are today!” Sharon was on the sidelines supporting and being ever eternal in her interest and care. As the life of any party, she was most definitely the glue that held folks together.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert, and daughters, Stephanie Stromberg of New Zealand (Kai 18, Connor 17, Samuel 15, & Cheyenne 7); Susan and Joel Hale of Round Mountain, Texas (Harrison 26 & Georgia 22). She adored her grandchildren and always looked for ways to create memorable and special occasions as a family.
We wish to express our most heartfelt gratitude to her amazing care team. For the past 2 ½ years we have been blessed with the most talented, loving, and gracious souls: Betty Nwele, Rosa Soto, Meghan Thompson, the memory care staff at Maravilla at The Domain, Lizbeth Lozano, Daphney Lozano, and Sharon Shultz. God shows Himself in many forms, and we thank you.
Go with Grace beautiful one. You live forever in our hearts. You were one of a kind, and you were ours.
And p.s. Cheyenne wishes you a happy first day in Heaven.
