Bob (Robert) W. Lund, passed away on a beautiful fall Saturday evening of October 29, 2022, in Appleton, WI. Bob was born March 3, 1931, in Neenah, WI to Francis and Florence Lund and shared his early life with his only sibling, brother Francis Jr (deceased). He graduated from Neenah high school and went on to serve in the USAF spending memorable hours in a B36 “Peacemaker” taking aerial reconnaissance photos. Prior to his military service, Bob began his undergraduate degree at Carroll College (now University) in Wisconsin and completed his business degree at University of Wisconsin – Madison after military service.
Bob married Joyce Olson (the young woman down the street) in 1958. Together they moved to Rockford, IL where he worked for the Barber-Colman Company numerous early years as their family grew with sons Rob, Joel, and daughter Melody. Aging parents brought their return to the area in 1976 where Bob worked for the Presto Product company as the Data Processing Manager. Bob also worked for and retired from The City of Appleton where his Pascal programming skills wrote code that ran the city’s payroll and other systems for more years than the city would like to admit. The city had just recently upgraded their systems long after Bob’s retirement in 1990.
After retirement, in 1996 Bob and Joyce relocated to Dell Webb Sun City in Georgetown, TX which they enjoyed immensely. Bob enjoyed his retirement years playing tennis, swimming, bicycling, visiting grandchildren, and golfing. Bob and Joyce recently moved back to the Appleton area in 2021.
In addition to his wife Joyce and his three children, Bob is survived by: son Rob’s wife Cindy and their daughter Lillianna; son Joel’s wife Phyllis and their son Brandon along with his wife Jenny and their 7 month old (Bob’s great grandson)-Ryan, Joel’s daughter Kelly and her husband Tom Hoctor, and Joel’s daughter Alexandra; in addition, daughter Melody’s husband David Rank and their daughter Courtney Szymanski and her husband Tucker as well as Courtney’s expected child due in December.
Services will be held in Appleton with Bob’s brother-in-law, Deacon Jim Olson officiating.
