Bruce was born on May 30, 1955 in Xenia, Ohio to Harry Davies and Anna Davies (Smith).
Bruce was raised in Xenia and graduated from Xenia High School. After high school, he received his BS from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. It was during his time in college, while working part-time for the phone company Southcentral Bell, when Bruce met his future wife Mary Ann Redmon. At first, she refused to date him, on account of him being younger than her, but she eventually relented to his persistence. They were married for 43 years and raised 4 children together.
After finishing college, Bruce started his career at 3M in manufacturing operations. While working at 3M, Bruce decided he wanted to work in global market development. He accomplished this by going back to school -- while working and raising kids -- and earning his MBA from St. Edwards University in Austin. He worked at 3M for 22 years before eventually joining Durcon to manage international sales. This allowed Bruce to spend his career building and growing businesses around the world. He was able to touch 6 out of 7 continents and dozens of countries. He loved learning about other cultures and their histories. In particular, he loved seeing just how spicy they could make their food.
Bruce was an avid sports fan. Growing up in southwest Ohio, Bruce became a diehard Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was always excited for college football to start in the Fall so he could watch his beloved Buckeyes play. He was able to share this passion with his children by occasionally breaking them out of school for a “family event” to attend a Buckeyes’ game in the Horseshoe, on the other side of the country.
In his retirement years, Bruce volunteered his time and business acumen with the SCORE organization where he helped mentor small business owners. He loved helping others chase their dreams of owning and growing their own businesses. He was very proud of his service.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son Kyle Davies, father Harry Davies and mother Anna Kimmig (Smith) and partner/stepfather Frank Kimmig of Lakeland, Florida.
Bruce is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Redmon) Davies of Cedar Park, TX; children Trent (and wife Eve) Davies of Houston, TX, Michael Davies of Tucson, AZ, and Katie Davies of Austin, TX; grandson Redmon Davies; his stepmother Carole Davies in Xenia, OH; and siblings Harry Davies of Florida, Barry Davies of Ohio, Chris Davies of Ohio, Rick Current of Ohio, Steve Current of Ohio, Linda Kinser of Ohio, Luis Kimmig of Florida, and Andre Kimmig of Florida.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul at Saint Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church (a voluntary organization for the poor).
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Texas Oncology, all the doctors and nurses involved, Kindred Hospice, and the many friends and neighbors for their love and support.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 10:30am, at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 1101 West New Hope Drive, Cedar Park, TX 78613.
