Patricia Ann Travis passed away in Austin, Texas on February 4, 2025. Patti lived a full, loving, kind, and adventurous life that ended too soon. Patti was born on August 12,1969 in Dallas, Texas and was the youngest of five children. Patti has been known to say she was the favorite child of Warren Day and Virginia Morgan Travis, and was much loved by her sisters Lynn, Susan, and Mary Beth, and brother Will.
Patti grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Bryan Adams High School. She was a University of Texas graduate with a degree in Business. Patti worked as an accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers (Dallas) and Ernst & Young (Austin), obtaining her Certified Public Accountant license in 1994. She worked for SAP including time working in Germany. Patti then served as accountant and controller for Magnolia Pictures for almost 20 years, and most recently worked with Jeff Hufford CPA as a tax accountant.
Patti was a positive light in this world who loved and was deeply loved by her family and friends. She was generous with her time, love, and friendship, and she always saw the best in people. If you were a friend of Patti’s, you were a friend for life. She enjoyed friendships lasting up to 50 years dating back to elementary and high school days. Patti was a kind, loving, gentle, compassionate friend to all.
Patti was ready for any adventure and loved to explore the world as much as she loved to spend time relaxing on her back porch or watching movies at home. Some of her favorite places were Prescott AZ, Waynesville NC, and Terlingua TX. Patti’s journeys included backpacking thru Europe after graduation, volcanoes & northern lights in Iceland, paragliding in Zermatt, exploring her family roots in Ireland, cruising the Danube River through Budapest, trekking in Italy, rafting the Grand Canyon, hiking in Banff, whitewater rafting & dog sled puppy cuddling in Alaska, an epic road trip to Glacier National Park, scuba diving with sharks in the Bahamas, exploring Mayan ruins in Belize, snorkeling stingray city in the Cayman Islands, and the total solar eclipse in Texas. Patti was rarely without a next adventure planned.
Your day was always a little brighter when Patti was a part of it. She had lots of loves – her dogs Murphy, Simon, and Penny, queso (really cheese in all forms), dark chocolate, Yacht Rock, 80’s on Eight, breakfast tacos, star gazing, pretzels, hiking, mountains, fall color, flowers, birds, and Rosé. Her favorite activity was being with friends and family; she strongly disliked pickles.
Patti is survived by her father, Warren (Dallas), sisters Lynn (Houston), Susan (Dallas), and Mary Beth (Dallas), brother Will (Bethesda), sister-in-law Nancy, niece Katherine, nephews John and Michael, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the country. Patti’s mother Virginia (Ginger) predeceased her.
Celebrations of Patti’s life are being planned in Dallas and in Austin later this spring. Memorials in her honor can be made to Austin Pets Alive or For the Love of the Lake Celebration Tree Grove (White Rock Lake Dallas), or any other organization that makes you think of Patti.
Patti: the best sister, daughter, friend, cousin, coworker, neighbor possible. There is no one else we would rather laugh with. Patti will be missed every day.
When I go to cross that river, She is comfort by my side -
When I try to understand, She just opens up her hands -
