On Monday, July 17, 2017, Mary Ann (Jund) Baden (or Gigi/Grannie as she was also known) went home to our Father in Heaven where she joined her mother, eldest sister Rita, along with many other family and friends. She was born in Dallas, Texas on August 20, 1933. As a proud Dallas native, she graduated from North Dallas High School in 1950. Mary Ann raised her children and lived the majority of her life in the city she loved. Community service was always near and dear to her heart while also working full time. She was President of her children’s PTA, and was proud to be a lifetime member of the Texas PTA. After a calling from the Lord, she took a leap of faith, and, acquired her nursing degree from Vernon Regional College at 46 years old. In the healing field, Mary Ann thrived in serving others for the remainder of her career. In 1998, she met Dale Thornton, which would eventually move her to the Kern Valley in California. In 2008, after Dale’s passing, she relocated to Pflugerville, TX to be near her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Angela Dyer and husband Jack, Teresa Van Buren, and Michael Humphreys; her grandchildren Chasey Packer and husband Eric, Nikki Hicks and husband CJ; her great grandchildren Ashton Packer, Lissa Packer, and Lane Hicks; her sisters Nancy Bosarge and Susan Wallace; and her beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She enjoyed tending to her garden, and, being an involved member of her apartment community. In addition, she found joy in being of service to her church, as a member of the Prayer Team and Servant Angels. Mary Ann was a zesty, feisty lady, who was filled to the brim with authentic Texas charm, from her accent to her strength, as well as, her convictions to her joyful spirit. Mary Ann will be remembered for her love of people, wicked sense of humor, and her infectious smile. Also, she could be heard for miles during a Cowboys game. She strived to ensure the next generation would be filled with many “ups” and “hugs”. Mary Ann shared one request, that there never be a dash, between the two dates of her life. That space was to be a cross as the years between the dates were so much more than a dash. A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held on August 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church Pflugerville, 500 West Pecan St, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660 at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas, alongside her mother and her aunt. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ann’s honor may be made to: The Christian Appalachian Project, www.christianapp.org or to the First United Methodist Church Pflugerville. Those attending the service are asked to bring a balloon, to be released in her honor, after the service.
