Marvin L. Wolverton passed away on March 16, 2018, at the age of 73. He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, and graduated from DeKalb High School (Illinois). Following service in the U.S. Army, he attended New Mexico Tech where he graduated with a degree in mining engineering. Marv married his wife, Mimi, in 1969, later moving from Illinois to Brainerd, Minnesota where he fell in love with deer hunting. He later lived in Gilbert, Arizona, Pullman, Washington, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Leander, Texas, his residence at the time of his death.
Marv held a Masters degree in economics from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in real estate from Georgia State University. His varied career spanned college professor, realtor, commercial real estate appraiser (MAI), and, most recently, managing director of Cushman & Wakefield where he provided analytical and advisory services and expert testimony.
Marv will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband and father, avid outdoorsman, gifted woodworker, connoisseur of a well sharpened hand plane or chisel, a tai chi enthusiast, loyal Cubs and Packers fan, and generous donator of his time and skills. Marv had a sharp mind and was a gifted teacher. He was a nuanced practitioner of colorful language and liked to provoke heated discussion of the politics of the day. He had a great appreciation for things of beauty, in the natural world as well as in a well-crafted piece of furniture or finely rendered painting. He instilled in his children the importance of living with integrity, working hard, and being the best person you can be. He is dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mimi (nee Hiatt), son Steve (Lisa), daughter Ann (Misha), two grandsons, and his sister, Vickie (Mrs. Michael Boyd).
