Marvin was born on a farm in Richlands, Tazewell County, Virginia and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from East High School and joined the Navy where he became a Hospital Corpsman attaining the rank of Senior Chief. He served for 22 years, 12 of which were with the U.S. Marine Corp as their “Doc”. Before retiring from the Navy he completed 30 correspondence courses as well as becoming a Radiologic Monitor through West Virginia University. He attended Palomar College in San Marcos, California after retiring from the Navy. He loved fishing and looked forward to fishing with his son and friends.
Marvin met his wife Frances Zyvith at East High School and married in June of 1957. They have been married 67 years and have 3 children: Eldest daughter Laurel Hamilton, son-in-law Rod, son Mark, daughter-in-law Christine, and daughter Dea Malone, son-in-law Mike. Grandchildren are Brett Hamilton and wife Cassie, Kaitlyn Malone, Sarah Davison and husband Kyle, Bethany, Caroline, Lance, Nicholas, and 5 great grandchildren.
He and his wife met singing in Acapella Choir in high school and continued singing together in church choir as well as with the Mission San Luis Rey Chorus in Oceanside, California and the Hill Country Singers in Lago Vista, Texas.
Marvin was a strong Christian and founding member of Trinity Anglican Church in Lago Vista/Jonestown, Texas where he held many offices and was dedicated to helping others. He was very thankful for all his friends who welcomed him every Sunday and to have members of his men’s Bible Study group visit with him on Thursday evenings but most of all for our Pastor Dale Chrisman for his blessings and encouragement.
