Martha died Friday, February 1, in Troy Texas, at her home.
Martha was born July 27, 1948, in Temple, Texas. She was the only child of Hughie Edward and Martha Louise Carberry. She grew up in Jarrell, Leroy and Corpus Christi.
Martha graduated from Tuloso Midway High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston State University. She taught Quest, English and Social Studies at Corpus Christi- Calallen and Troy. She is preceded in death by her father Hughie Edward Carberry and her mother Martha Louise Carberry.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Mayo (Kevin), Elizabeth Simms (Jordan), and four grandchildren, Preston Mayo, Connor Mayo, Brennan Simms & Katie Simms.
Martha loved teaching English and Social Studies. Her passion was making sure all her students knew how to diagram a sentence and making sure they were experts on WW2. She bled maroon and was passionate about anything that had to do with Texas A&M. Her pride and joy were her children, their husbands and most of all her four grandkids. Martha was special to many people. She was “Grammy”, “Mother”, “Cousin Martha”, “Auntie Martha”, teacher, and Friend.
