“Do not go gentle into that good night.” Luke Salinas Newton of Austin, Texas, formerly of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 43 after a brief and unsuccessful fight with brain cancer.
Luke, born in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on August 23rd 1973, was the only and beloved son of James and Sandra Newton. He attended Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Connecticut. He earned his A.A. from Naugatuck Valley Community College, his B.A. from Teikyo Post University, and his M.Ed. from Bridgeport University.
Most recently, he worked at Forcepoint LLC in Austin, Texas as a Virtual Trainer, which he called his “dream job” because he was doing what he loved – teaching – and working for Mr. Tom Brandon whom he admired and respected.
Luke’s interests were wide-ranging and varied. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Salinas Newton. He is preceded in death by his father, James Newton. His mother requests that in lieu of flowers or expressions of sympathy, donations be made in Luke’s name to the Austin Humane Society, 124 W.
