Kathleen Marie Page (a/k/a “Mimi”) was called to heaven on July 31,2023. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 20, 1944, to Joseph Bernard Martin Patrick III and Birdie Lee Corcoran, Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James Richard Page (a/k/a “Big Daddy,” “Dada,” and “Big Jim”); children Katherine Oholendt (Mark), Sharon Dorris (Steve), Patricia Page-Murphy (Tom), Robert Sean Page (Mary) and Robert Claborn Page (Laura); grandchildren Jason Dorris (Val), Nicole Stokes (Ryan), Lauren Oholendt, Kyle Oholendt (Lauren), James Oholendt, Makayla Murphy, Darden Page, and Josephine Page; great grandchildren Leo Oholendt and Perry Stokes; and numerous nephews and nieces, cousins and friends, including but not limited to, Felix Camacho, Tanker Harris, and her furriest child (who regularly talked back) Sarah Jane. Kathleen was preceded by her father and mother and brothers Joseph and Patrick Corcoran.
Kathleen’s formative years were spent across the globe at various military installations. After graduating from high school, she attended Arkansas State, before moving to San Antonio, Texas where her father was stationed at the time. Kathleen had no idea she would meet the love of her life in San Antonio, or she probably would have moved there sooner. Kathleen spent several years serving as the comptroller for Colglazier Construction Company. She participated in Junior Forum of San Antonio, spearheading the organization’s development of an award-winning cookbook-- in part to save her household from the fate of Jim’s food prep. Kathleen was an excellent cook in her own right, always willing to try new recipes, while taking full creative license in adjusting the amounts of butter (LOTS of butter) and salt. The kitchen caught fire once under her watch, but that’s another story.
Looking for a quiet, slower-paced life, Kathleen, with Jim in tow, made her first attempt at “retiring” in Marble Falls, Texas. Not one to sit still, she failed miserably. For her second act, Kathleen began working at Marble Falls High School. She served as the cheer sponsor for the Fighting Mustangs, leading multiple squads to national qualifiers in Florida. Kathleen took extreme pride in teaching English classes after hours. Her dedication and passion for the school district was addictive, such that Jim and his Meadowlakes senior golf crew “signed up” as well, periodically offering (between rounds) their wisdom as substitute teachers, crossing guards, and bus drivers. This new chapter allowed Jim and Kathleen to enjoy lunch together-- Jim taking full advantage of the cafeteria menu.
St. John’s Catholic Church counted Kathleen as a faithful and active member. She enjoyed many meaningful hours serving in various programs, including the blanket ministry. She regularly volunteered at the Burnet County Women’s Prison.
Her pastimes and hobbies were vast. Kathleen loved to travel. She studied and qualified to be a tour guide in Austin. She enjoyed many successful afternoons playing Bridge with treasured friends. Kathleen was a voracious reader of all kinds of books, participating in multiple groups. She ignited the flame of curiosity in others, to explore and get lost in a story, including Jim-- a rather formidable undertaking given his educational background as a Texas A&M graduate. She loved the weekly meetings and camaraderie shared with her “Whiners” Club.
Kathleen retained her social presence, quick wit, and sharp tongue through her extended illness and stay at Gateway Gardens, where Jim and Sarah Jane faithfully remained by her side until the end. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to Altus Hospice for their exceptional care including Dr. Sixian Welch, Krystal Williams and Jasmine Willea, as well as the rockstar care Kathleen received at Gateway from Barbara, Sam, Courtney, Ben, and Bull.
Kathleen led a life dedicated to her family, crew of friends, and most of all, her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, for the Church Blanket Ministry, in Kathleen’s honor, affording those in need to be wrapped in the same warmth of caring which Kathleen radiated throughout a life well lived.
A rosary will be held at 7 PM., Friday, August 18th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church located at 105 FM 1431 East, Marble Falls, Texas 78654. A funeral mass will be held the following day, August 19th, at 11:00 AM, at St. John’s Church. All are welcome to attend.
