Jimmy Roy Kettler “Jim” passed away peacefully in Gatesville, Texas on August 31, 2026, at the age of 82. Jim was born in Rio Grande City, Texas on September 16, 1943, and grew up as a “Blizzard” in Winters, Texas. Jim was a lifetime resident of Arlington, Texas where he lived in the same house for over 50 years.
Jim worked his entire career in the accounting world. He was a true “numbers” guy. Jim was more importantly a caregiver. He spent his life caring for others and asking for nothing in return. No matter how he felt, Jim would always say, “I’m fine, I’m fine”. Jim was a great person with a big heart.
Jim was a lifelong member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Arlington. He was an active member and wanted to “help out” as much as he could.
Jim was a true Texas Rangers baseball fan. He was usually seen wearing his Texas Rangers baseball cap. Hot or cold, he would have on a Texas Rangers baseball t-shirt. He was always looking to start a conversation about the Rangers! He was so great at it that he met his wife, LaJuana Kettler at a Texas Rangers baseball game in 1975. If it was football season, it was the Dallas Cowboys. He was very excited when the Cowboy’s season began. During football season, he would trade the Rangers shirt for a Cowboys shirt. Jim was a real Rangers and Cowboy fan.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife LuJuana, his mother, Ellen Kettler, and father L.W.Kettler. Jim is survived by his children Jay Kettler, Angie Kettler, and Adrian Kettler; his sister Judy Mapes, his brother Leroy Kettler, and a host of other family members whom he loved so much.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday September 9 at 1:30 pm. Please honor Jim’s memory by joining the family wearing a Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys shirt.
