Janice Marie Marion, 78, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2024. She was born on January 2, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Howard and Gertrude Blum. Janice was a kind and loving woman, known for her generosity and caring nature. She always put others before herself and had a deep love for her family and friends.
Janice grew up in New Braunfels, attended New Braunfels High, and at age 15 met the love of her life Robert Marion. Her senior year her parents moved to San Marcos where she would graduate. Robert went off to the Navy and Janice went to Southwest Texas State University where she gained a degree in Home Economics. Shortly after Robert returned from the Navy they married in 1968.
Janice had a passion for 1950s and 1960s music and enjoyed dancing around the house. She cherished her high school friendships and made sure to stay in touch with her classmates, often gathering at her friend Jean's house to catch up. Some of her favorite memories were when she lived in Round Rock and had her monthly Bunco Group with her friends. She was always one to stay active whether through organizing something around the house, decorating, cooking, gardening, or going on walks. But most of all she loved calling up new and old friends to check in. Janice had the gift of gab.
Janice had a fulfilling career that spanned different fields. She dedicated 15 years to providing home childcare and after-school care, nurturing, and shaping the lives of many children. Janice also managed the family business, Advanced Telephone, and later became a successful real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Killeen and Harker Heights, where she served the community for 20 years. She loved nothing more than selling a home to young military couples starting a family.
Janice is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Marion, her children Eric (and wife Lindsey) Marion and Laura Marion, and grandchildren Mackenzie, Hailey, and Dean Marion. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Blum, mother, Gertrude Blum, and sister, Jeanette Loveless.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Janice to the Alzheimer's Association.
Janice Marie Marion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, love for her family, and dedication to her community will be remembered and cherished forever. We love you Janice!
