Henry Preston Lawson

Preston was born October 10, 1943, in Blue Ridge, Tx. His father’s various appointments across North Texas as a United Methodist minister moved his family frequently and eventually to the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas. Preston graduated from Sunset High School in 1962 and attended North Texas University.

In 1963, Preston married in Dallas, started a family, joined the International Union of Elevator Constructors and began a 35-year career at Otis Elevator Company.

In the late 70’s, Preston, also known as “HP”, moved to the Waco area. He married again in 1999 and he and his wife Sheila resided in West for the remainder of his life.

Preston retired at the age of 55 and spent his retirement years pursuing his lifelong love of collecting and restoring pre 1950s cars.

Preston is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Harold Lawson and Dorothy Broyles Lawson, and brother Larry Dennis Lawson. He is survived by his wife Sheila and their son, Eugene Mirick and wife Robin. He is also survived by son, Rene’ Preston Lawson and wife Pam, daughter Maria Elena "Lynna" Lawson Fedric and husband Ryder, daughter Lisa Michele Lawson, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 7, 2023.
