Ethel married her husband, Leon Givens, in January of 1960. They went on to have two children together, Lee and Rick.
Ethel's career path was a mirror of her tenacious nature. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years before becoming a physical therapist aide for over twenty, and a licensed massage therapist for over ten years before finally retiring in Georgetown. Perhaps her most important job, however, was as a loving matriarch, a devoted grandmother, and a great source of joy for her family. Ethel had a lively spirit and, in her personal life, always enjoyed playing cards, where her competitive nature and quick humor made every game unforgettable. Her cooking was renowned among her family and friends; every holiday table was always overflowing with delicious dishes that brought everyone together. She had a great appreciation for fashion, with a closet full of colorful ensembles, and always presented herself with style and grace. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautifully lived moments that will forever be remembered.
Ethel is survived by her son, Lee and his wife Irina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lucille; husband, Leon Givens; and son, Rick Givens.
