ANCIRA, Ellen Joanne On October 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm with her daughters at her side, Ellen Joanne Ancira, took her last few breaths and passed on to eternal rest. A longtime resident of Round Rock, Texas, Joanne is survived by her 5 daughters: Ellen Aurora, Laura Lynn, Barbara Gayl, Mary Alicia (Lisa), and Anastacia Patricia (Tasha). Born in Sioux City Iowa on July 24th, 1929, Joanne was the youngest child to Ella Ryle and Julius Stark. She attended Central High School in Sioux City Iowa and then moved to Dallas Texas to attend nursing school at SMU. Joanne Ancira known as Joey to her grandchildren, Mom to her 5 daughters, and Joanne to her many friends across the world, left a legacy to all that knew her. Joanne's love for life, wonder for the arts, appreciation for diverse culture and travel, and most importantly a commitment to human philanthropy were some of the many contributions to the lives of all that knew her. She often stated that her desire was to "make every place I live a little better than before". Ellen Joanne Ancira was most happy when fulfilling her commitment to making the world a better place. Her leadership roles with numerous charitable organizations, foundations for the arts, societies promoting education, travel clubs, and hospitality organizations reflected her many passions. Among numerous causes that Joanne devoted her energies to were: -Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Served as President and Treasurer -Pan American Round Table- Chaired Texas State Convention in Laredo Texas -Kidney Foundation Donor -LAMP- Lifelong Learning Program University of Texas -Friendship Force International Travel and Hospitality -Biblical Archeological Society Assisted Archeologists and Anthropologists in Israel, and US -Martha Washington Society -Laredo Swim Team -Newcomer's Club -Contributor to Public Broadcasting Stations -PTS President for St. Augustine High School Laredo Texas -Arabian Horse Association Joanne traveled all continents of the world. Many of her trips were in the company of her daughters and grandchildren. At other times, she traveled with people that would soon be her friends. Her spirit of adventure was contagious. There will be a "Remembrance Ceremony" for Joanne Ancira at Berry Springs Park, Georgetown, Texas, October 10, 2018 from 3 to 5 pm.
