Elizabeth was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on April 15th, 1939. She is the second child of Col. Walter Parks Goodwin, II and Mary Ellis Hardin.
She was an extremely strong and independent woman. She worked her way through college while raising three adventurous boys - Geoff, Craig and Barton. She rode the “orange bus” from Dallas to Denton to earn a BS degree in nursing at Texas Women’s University. She didn’t stop there. She went on to earn a master’s degree and later became a nurse practitioner graduating from the University Of Texas Health Science Center. She had a successful career and saw many patients at the VA hospital in San Antonio before retiring in 2006.
Elizabeth was also very involved with the church. She was a long time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio and joined St. Luke’s in Cypress Mills after moving to Johnson City. She joined many sewing missions to Piedras Negras to help teach the local women to sew. She also enjoyed participating with vacation bible school and working with those children for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Being in a military family, she was well traveled and fluent in Italian and Spanish.
She is preceded in death by her father (Col. Walter Parks Goodwin, II), mother (Mary Ellis Hardin), beloved son (Erroll Barton Clark), and dear brother (Walter Parks Goodwin, III). She is survived by son Geoffrey Vance Clark (Kennette Kennedy) of Plano, Texas; son Craig Hardin Clark (Theresa Novak) of Canyon Lake, Texas; three grandchildren Dillon Scott, Ryan Cecilia, and Kevin James also of Canyon Lake, Texas; sister in law Jill Goodwin of Alpine, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
Services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cypress Mill, TX on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1pm.
