It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elayne Penney-Timmons, 73, of Georgetown, TX. Elayne passed to eternal life peacefully in her family’s arms on April 27, 2025, at Ascension Seton Medical Hospital in Round Rock, TX.
A native of Stacyville, IA, Elayne is the daughter of Stuart and Rosemary Penney and sister to John Penney, all of whom proceeded her in death. Elayne was the beloved wife to Steve Timmons for almost 43 years and will be deeply missed by him along with her five children: Justin Virant, Penney (David) Waller, Sara Timmons, Joanna (Kevin) Anselme, and Angela (Chris) Kiffin. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jacob Timmons, Nathan Elings, Meghan, Connor and Madison Anselme, Forrest Waller, Grace, Taylor, Christian and Bella Kiffin, two great-grandchildren: Blakeleigh and Brantleigh Elings, and siblings: Jim (Heather) Penney, Mary Jo (Larry) Wulf, Deb Penney (John Morrow), Rita (Fred) Martens, Ann (Dale) Decker, and sisters in law: Linda (Steve) Aherns, and Donna Boerjan.
Elayne was born May 19, 1951 in Rochester, MN and graduated from St. Ansger High School in 1969. She graduated as an RN and received her business degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Elayne spent over 40 years in nursing and worked in many different fields, including: critical care, coronary care, cardiac rehab, education, telemetry, home care, hospice, infusion care, and was the president of the Iowa association of Infusion. In Sun City, Elayne was involved in teaching CPR and First Aid. She loved her career, was a proud nurse, and was well-loved by her patients.
Elayne was a very happy and positive person with a friendly personality. She never met a stranger, loved to laugh, and was a true caretaker. She and Steve found each other on December 31, 1981 when she asked Steve to dance. They quickly fell in love and were married June 5, 1982. Elayne and Steve just got back from Egypt, their best trip ever, because they got two weeks together, 24 hours a day.
Elayne had many hobbies and interests that kept her very busy, including: reading and prayer, traveling,
square dancing, round dancing, bike rides, long daily walks, hiking (all 5 national parks in Utah and the grand canyon!), Spanish lessons, pilates, yoga, singing in the Worship Place choir, bible study class, pickleball, women’s bible group, she was the neighborhood church ambassador, Christian book club, exercise classes, weekly happy hour, weekly zooms with her siblings, block parties, jokers card group, hand and foot card group, quilting and sewing, cooking, dining out and going to movies, lifting weights, and she absolutely loved her dog, Emmy. She also loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Society Austin for your incredible support. Please join us for a Celebration of Life to be held at The Worship Place (811 Sun City Blvd, Georgetown, TX) on June 2 at 1:00pm. Following the service, at 3:00pm, Elayne’s ashes will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at The Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery (11463 Fort Hood St., Killeen, TX). In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made in Elayne’s name to The Worship Place in Sun City, TX, where Elayne and Steve attended for 17 years.
