Douglas Eugene Jourdan

Douglas Eugene Jourdan was a fourth generation Austinite, born in Austin, TX on February 15, 1934 to Grace Madelyn Harris and Edward Eugene (Dimp) Jourdan. He died on March 4, 2023 in Austin, TX at the age of 89 years.

Doug attended Stephen F. Austin High School and The University of Texas, graduating in 1955 with a BA in Finance. During the summers while attending UT, he worked for Shell Oil and Humble Oil in the oilfields. After graduating from UT, he worked for Humble Oil in Houston and Grand Isle, LA in Accounting.

After serving in the United States Army Finance Corp at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN, Doug was employed at Mulholland and McWhirter CPAs as a Tax Accountant and Auditor; with the United States Health, Education, & Welfare Department as an Auditor; and for The Texas Rehabilitation Commission as Budget Officer until his retirement in February, 1994.

Doug was predeceased by his parents and grandson Daniel Jourdan.

Doug is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Ann Dekle Jourdan; 3 sons: David Jourdan and wife Lisa; Don Jourdan and wife Kathy; Darrell Jourdan and wife Laura; 6 grandchildren: Dustin Jourdan, Stephanie Jourdan, Nina Jourdan, Matthew Jourdan, Hannah Jourdan all of Austin, and Austin Coffey of New York City; Sisters-in-Law: Cathy Sanders and husband Sid of Wimberley, TX and Karen Dekle of Tulsa, OK; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Encompass Health Hospital of Austin, The Pavilion at Great Hills, and Silverado Hospice of Austin and their staffs for the loving care they gave Doug.
