He was born on October 25 1931 in Waelder, Texas, where he grew up.
Donald worked in Air Force civil engineering. SMSTR (E-8) 23 years + 10 years Civil Service. He was actively involved in the Highland Lakes Honor Guard from 2009 to 2022. Also, he is a life member of VFW Post 6974 in Burnet, Texas.
Donald loved his antique cars and showing them in parades and car shows. He loved gardening and tending to his fruit trees. He also loved to play golf and travel in his motorhome across America. He loved to serve others and would help anyone who needed it. It was said by many that he was a true southern gentleman.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ima Jo Buethe; parents, Ben Buethe and Gladys Zavadil of Gonzales,Texas.
He is survived by his son, Gary Buethe and wife Monique Buethe of Delaware; his daughter, Brenda Keller and husband John S. of Virgina; grandchildren, Nathan Buethe and wife Haleigh of Michigan, John L. Keller and wife Heather of Virgina, Virginia Blanchard and husband Mike of Virginia; great grandchildren, Teddy Buethe of Michigan, Brendan Halsey and John K. Keller of Virginia.
The family would like to thank Willows at Leander for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Cook Walden Capital Parks on Friday March 14 at 11am. Visitation with the family will begin at 11am.
