Cynthia Brunson Hackworth (Cindy) of Austin, Texas passed away unexpectedly January 13, 2019. Cindy was born in Landstuhl, Germany on January 13, 1956 to Carl and Phyllis Brunson. She spent her young life moving often throughout Europe and the United States due to her father’s military assignments as a United States Air Force fighter pilot. Cindy graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a BS in Nutrition. Cindy’s career covered multiple venues from hospital nutritionists to teaching special needs children to wife and homemaker and various interests in between. Cindy’s bubbly personality allowed her to make friends easily and she was always happy and smiling. Everyone who knew her could see how much she cherished helping others as her generosity was as big as her heart. Cindy loved to talk with everyone and she was blessed with the ability to find a friend in everyone she met. Cindy’s deepest passion was spending time with family. Cindy was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends including casual living room settings to dinners and back yard barbeques. You could find her at her happiest when she was on the beach in Destin, FL during her yearly family vacation which she took for the past 30 years. Cindy was an inspiration to her family, friends, and colleagues.
Cindy is survived by her husband to whom she was wed for 37 years, William Newton Hackworth (Newt), their daughter Ashley Mayfield, her father, Col. Carl L. Brunson Ret., her brothers, Carl L. Brunson Jr., David L. Brunson and wife, Leigh Ann Brunson, her sister, Carolyn P. Loeffler, Ashley’s husband Bobby Mayfield, and grandchildren, Henry and Owen Mayfield and soon to arrive Annabel Mayfield, many nieces and nephews: Cory and Chad Brunson, Kathryn and Jennifer Loeffler, Jessica and Rebecca Brunson, and Ryan and Brittany Brunson, Chris and Misty Hackworth, Tessa LaChapelle and Kris Newby. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Phyllis Lee Lowry Brunson, and brothers, Richard Brunson and Greg Brunson.
A celebration of life was held Thursday January 17th at El Mercado (1302 S. 1st St. Austin, TX 78704) from 3p-7p.
Cindy will be missed but never forgotten.
