Connie Sue Newell

Connie Newell, age 78, passed away on September 29, 2026, in San Marcos, Texas. Born on September 11, 1948, in Corydon, Iowa, Connie lived a life filled with warmth, dedication to her family, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.

Her journey took her from small town Iowa to the bustle of Texas, creating a lifetime of cherished memories, a fulfilling career, deep friendships, and love for her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and an even better Mema. She tackled any obstacle with determination, and confidently built her life and influenced the lives of those she loved.

She is survived by her loving children, Misty Frank (Weston Frank), Spencer Newell, and Stephanie Newell; partner, James Willingham; ex-husband, Stephen Newell; sisters and brother, Cathie Hullinger (Stan Hullinger), Cheryl Goretska (Danny Goretska), Cindy Tometich, and Chris Vandenburg; nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense happiness to her life.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Candi Prause, grandson, Matthew Morris, as well as her brother, Craig Vandenburg, and parents, Evelyn Bettis and Delbert Vandenburg.

The celebration of Connie's life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at First Baptist Canyon Lake at 1 pm. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Connie Newell and Candi Prause’s honor.
