It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Avelino Hinojos Sanchez (“Heb”) of Odessa, Texas, who went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on November 26, 1956, Avelino lived a life grounded in faith, devotion, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.
Avelino graduated from Ector High School in 1976 and went on to build a long and dedicated career in retail. He worked faithfully as both a Merchandiser and Salesman for O’Reilly Auto Parts and Office Depot, where his strong work ethic, warm personality, and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on colleagues and customers alike.
A man of deep faith, Avelino embraced the simple joys of life during his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in fishing and camping, but his greatest joy came from time spent with his family—whether stopping by to visit his siblings during the week or gathering with loved ones during the holidays. He especially cherished watching his great‑grandson play baseball, a pastime that filled him with immense pride and happiness.
Avelino was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Avelino Sr. and Maria Del Refugio Sanchez, and his brother, Alfredo Sanchez.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion carried on by his cherished wife, Sylvia M. Sanchez; his daughters, Christina, Beatrice, and Tiffany Fabela; and his siblings, Romelia Gonzales, Sylvia Gonzales, Catalina Rojo, and Alonso Sanchez. His memory will also live on through his treasured grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, along with a large circle of extended family and dear friends.
Avelino will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend—someone whose kindness, gentle spirit, and steadfast love touched every life he encountered. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
