Jo was born on April 14, 1934 in Hemp, North Carolina to the late John and Donnie Caldwell. She met and married Wilton Page at the young age of 16 in 1950. They had 2 children together and she led the life of an Air Force wife where she was a nurse's aid for many years. Wilton retired from the Air Force in 1970 and they decided to settle down in Austin.
After Wilton passed away in 1972, Jo decided to remain in Austin, and worked many years with Austin ISD in the cafeteria of Pleasant Hill Elementary and then later was the manager of Houston Elementary cafeteria before she retired.
She and long-time family friend, James Davis reunited in the late 70's and soon became inseparable. They married in 1981 and once Jo retired, they worked together in James' construction company until they retired together to travel and enjoy family.
Jo loved to host many family gatherings for birthdays, holidays and special times not only for family but friends and church members. Best times were hosting summer swimming parties in their backyard and game playing with the family after dinner at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
They were actively involved with the youth group at Fairview Baptist Church, cooking and serving Saturday breakfast for members of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church, and later joined Beacon Ridge Baptist Church.
One of her passions was playing golf. Her most notable accomplishment was hitting "a hole in one" while vacationing in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She also spent many hours on various golf courses over the years playing with James and the family. She loved participating in the "Davis Cup", a family tournament, once a year.
She never met a stranger and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Donnie Caldwell and her late husband, Wilton Page.
She is survived by her husband James Clayton Davis of Austin, Texas; her daughter Pattie Bell of Austin, Texas and son Jeffrey Page of Lago Vista,Texas, her step-daughters Debbie Madsen & husband Tom of Austin, Texas and Belenda Barta of Manor, Texas; step-sons Glenn Davis of Vancleave Mississippi, and Ronnie & wife Susan of Rocksprings Texas; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
There will be a "celebration of her life" on November 9, 2019 at Westoak Woods Baptist Church, 2900 W Slaughter Lane Austin, Texas 78748, from 11:00am-1:00pm.
