William James (Bill) Williams of Lilburn, Georgia died April 13, 2017 at the age of 82. He was born September 22, 1934 in McKenzie, Alabama, the youngest of 12 children. Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and was stationed in Japan from 1956 to 1958. After serving, he entered Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee in 1958. In 1959, Bill was accepted to David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. While attending Lipscomb, he met fellow student Sandra (Sandy) Moss of West Palm Beach, Florida. They were married September 8, 1961 then relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where together they raised their two children, Ken and Lisa. Bill was employed by Allstate Insurance Company, and later as an independent insurance and real estate agent until his retirement. Bill enjoyed helping others. He also loved hiking and camping, and was an unwavering fan of the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide. People were naturally drawn to Bill by his sensitive nature, genuine warmth, desire to help, and his playful teasing - all deeply endearing qualities which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandy Moss Williams; two children, Ken Williams and Lisa Renee Bogle; 3 grandchildren, Winston, Ellie and James Bogle; and 2 sisters, Geraldine Coburn and Elois Stinson. Bill and Sandy are longtime members of Northlake Church of Christ in nearby Tucker, Georgia. A memorial service is planned for 2 pm on April 29 at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bill Williams to Georgia AGAPE (www.georgiaagape.org).
