William Read

William Wayne Read died peacefully at age 67 on February 20, 2023 at his home in Commerce, Georgia. Bill was a graduate of Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut after growing up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of California - Berkeley in 1977 and then graduated from the University of San Diego Law School in 1980. After practicing law in California, he relocated to Commerce, Georgia and founded an addiction treatment center which has been serving the community for over 20 years. He was a reader and a collector, and loved his hound dog companions. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness, wit, and generosity. His presence in our lives has been missed.

Bill is survived by his nieces, nephews, and a caring community of friends. He is predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Deborah R. Yoder and Suzanne R. DiFulvio. A celebration of life will be held on April 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Duck Pond at American Veterans Memorial Park at 204 Carson Street, Commerce, Georgia. Donations may be made in Bill’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
