Noah Lane Fertig, 25 of Sandy Springs, GA passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born January 29, 1998 to John and Cheri Fertig. He grew up in Millboro and Covington, VA and graduated from Covington High School in 2016, where he made many close friends doing the things with them he loved most: playing football, basketball, baseball and golf. His academic and athletic achievements were many, but he was also known for being a genuinely nice guy that loved to see his friends and teammates having fun and being successful. He loved being outdoors playing softball with The Railers, shooting sporting clays, playing golf, cornhole and basketball as well as fishing and so many other activities with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, a son Jaxson, his brothers Aaron (Whitney) and Seth, and his sister Josie. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, John and Debbie Woodzell and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth Fertig, his uncles, Lee Roe and Andrew (Tori) Fertig and cousins Cathryn, Ethan and Emily as well as his nephews Julian, Eli and Aavery.
Noah’s desire and focus was on recovery and helping others, as so many had helped him. So many people have shared their stories of how Noah was there for them and offered hope, grace, forgiveness, and mercy, which he so freely granted to others but could not see fit to afford himself. He was so proud of his work in recovery as a med tech, and counseling at Southern Wellness Recovery in Georgia. During his time there, he often spoke of how blessed he was to have the love and support of his entire family and so many dear friends. However, it was so troubling to Noah to watch others struggling to get well, not only lacking a loving support system but also the basic necessities to live and work. Even though he willingly shared what he had, it just wasn’t enough.
Therefore, our desire is to continue Noah’s legacy of healing and generosity by establishing an ongoing fund in his memory at the place where he found HOPE. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to The Noah Fertig Memorial Fund. 100 percent of the funding will go directly toward helping those who are in active recovery and working hard to rebuild their lives.
