Mindy Coffino Waitsman

Mindy Coffino Waitsman passed away on Wednesday September 6, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, Georgia. Her parents Morris and Gladys Coffino preceded her death. Mindy is survived by her husband Rick Waitsman of Braselton, Georgia; and two children Sara Waitsman of Greenville, South Carolina and Melissa Waitsman Kincaid of Rockville, Maryland; son-in law, Anthony and grandchildren Finn and Connor. Mindy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mindy was a practicing attorney for 44 years in both Georgia and Florida. She started her practice in a small firm in Atlanta doing a broad variety of work. She then transitioned to corporate work as staff attorney at Rich's Department stores, General Counsel at Richway stores, and General Counsel for a division of Kodak when they were still making film and processing photos. She also was Assistant Regional Counsel for the Environment Protection Agency.

After three years in Shreveport, Louisiana for Rick to take a job as a Judge for the Social Security Administration, they returned to Atlanta. Mindy spent the next 22 years in private practice as partner in firms specializing in Community Association Law representing homeowner associations in both high rise condominiums and subdivisions. She was active in the professional association called Community Association Institute (CIA) serving in multiple leaderships roles including President of the Georgia chapter.

Mindy was also a leader in the community including Leadership DeKalb. Mindy's favorite volunteer service was Lekotek of Georgia. Lekotek' mission is to facilitate the inclusion of children with disabilities into their families, schools and communities by providing accessible play, adapted toys, technology, information and resources. Mindy was a board member for many years and also Board Chair.
