On Monday, October 29, 2018, Florene Joyce Francia, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 83 in Atlanta, Georgia. Florene was born on October 17, 1935 (with twin sister, Camille) in Chicago, IL to Emily DeChristopher Francia and Pietro Antonio Francia. She worked at Cook County Hospital as a phlebotomist with her LPN.
Florene and Camille joined their mother in Francia Bridal Fashions in Chicago, IL. Later, when she moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, she opened an Florene’s Island Apparel on Sanibel Island.
When the grandkids came along, she moved to Lawrenceville, GA to take on the full-fledged role of “Noona” (grandmother). She also enjoyed working at Dillard’s department store and Macy’s department store as a Wedding Coordinator and retail consultant.
She enjoyed vacationing on cruise ships extensively traveling the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. She had a passion for knitting, water color painting, and she very much enjoyed Tai Chi class (after much prompting from her family). She is remembered for her sense of humor, her jokes, those late night Christmas games of “Cards Against Humanity” and of course her love of flamingos, dogs, and cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Stacholy (Jan Stacholy), grandchildren: Serina, Marissa, and Nicholas. Sister: Camille Connolly. Nieces/Nephews: Roseanne Martinez, Donna Francia, Christine Jaksy, Jimmy Francia, Dean Francia, Liz Jaksy, Joey Francia, David Francia.
She joins her mother (Emily), her father (Peter) and her brother (Donald) in the Lord’s kingdom.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church at 11am. Located at: 7171 Glenridge Dr, Atlanta, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Florene’s memory may be made to Hospice Atlanta Center.
