Dorothy Eleanor McCormack, also known as Dottie, passed away peacefully in her home on January 25, 2024, at the age of 84 in Villa Rica, Georgia. She was born on September 26, 1939, in New Rochelle, New York, to Dorothy and Elmer Garretson.
Dottie was a woman with a magnetic personality who never met a stranger. She had a spunky and humorous nature that endeared her to everyone she met. She was the life of the party and would always be the last to leave, making sure to speak to everyone. Dottie had a passion for animals, particularly dogs, and if she had her way, she would have had a German Shepherd for every window in the house. She was also an exceptional seamstress, capable of creating anything from clothes to quilts. She enjoyed sewing for her children and made sure to give everyone in the family a handmade gift for Christmas. She absolutely loved to listen to Sonny James or Elvis Presley. One of her favorite pastimes was going on long motorcycle trips across the country or camping in their 45 ft motorhome with her beloved husband.
Dottie is survived by her loving children: Debra McCormack, Kathy (Shane) Ray, Danny (Rhonda) McCormack, and Jimmy (Denise) McCormack. She was a cherished grandmother to Matthew McCormack, Raiden Springman, Christian McCormack, Ainsley McCormack, Preston (David) Diver, Wade Sapp, Kayleigh Sapp, John Sapp, Lisa (Brandon) Terry, Lynn Scott, and Dylan Call. Additionally, she adored her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Terry, Alythea Hickman, Makaila Edmondson and Colton Cole. Dottie is also survived by her nephews Kevin, James, and Brian Jackman, as well as her great-nieces Emma and Mackenzie and great-nephews Conor and Declan.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Elmer Garrettson, sister, Elaine Jackman, and her husband, Bailor Daniel McCormack Jr.
Due to her husband's military career, Dottie dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, caring for her four children. When her children reached high school, she worked as a secretary for Clear Channel Outdoor, where she eventually retired from.
Funeral services for Dottie will be held on February 12, 2024, at 1:30 pm at Georgia National Cemetery, located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Bailor Daniel McCormack Jr. The Neptune Society, located in Norcross, GA, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Dottie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her infectious personality and warm heart touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
