He was born in Columbus, GA in October of 1952 to the late Norma Jean Holstead and the late Lorenz John Karpf. He graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School in Jacksonville, FL and attended Columbus College (currently Columbus State University) in Columbus, GA working towards a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
He worked in customer service positions, drove as a chauffeur for a period of time, and primarily worked in the hotel industry as a night auditor. He had always been involved in Church service, the latest of which was in the Orchestra at First Baptist Atlanta, playing the Bassoon. Music was his life!
Chuck is survived by his by his wife of 26 years, Rena Alice (Eckert) Karpf of Marietta, GA; his stepson Daniel Stringfield, wife Keri, and granddaughters, Nicole, and Honor; Sister Kathy in Florida; Half brothers, Gary and David in Nebraska. He also leaves behind many loved family members and his loyal companion dog, Buddy.
The military honors ceremony for Chuck will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:15 pm. His ashes will be placed in the columbarium there.
A group of friends and family will be meeting before the service for lunch at Williamson Brothers BBQ 1600 Marietta Hwy Canton, GA 30114 at 11 am. I will have a memory table set up there. Please sign the guest book, if you come. They have room for about 25 people in the reserved room to eat lunch and/ or beverage. If the number of people attending is more that there is room in the restaurant itself to eat lunch. Everyone will order separately and pay separately, per the restaurants guidelines. Please consider coming, as the family could use all the love and hugs available.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that monetary donations may be made to family to help cover the costs of arrangements.
